Bmw To Test Endurance In 24-hour Race

Aside from making BMW manual BMW is ready for another tough challenge.

The BMW endurance racing team are in Barcelona and preparing for their next dare the 24 Hores Frigo de Motociclisme at the Circuit Cataluyna in Barcelona.

The 24hour endurance race will give the team a chance to continue the development of the 1200s bike they raced so successfully in the Le Mans 24 hours earlier this year though the one at the Circuit Cataluyna is not part of the World Endurance Championship series.

Since then the bike has improved in terms of weight reduction of some five or six kilos refined aerodynamics and other small touches. The rear Brembo disc and caliper are now lighter then before as is the lower triple clamp. A new windscreen and mild revisions to some of the streamlining has given the bike a better shape and appearance through the air.

The team is allowed to use four riders for this race so they have called up Briton Richard Cooper. He may only be a twentyfour yearold rider but he is an experienced BMW racer and exhibits BMW’s commitment to youth. Richard joins the triumvirate who finished top in their class at Le Mans and 16th overall. The triad is composed of Marcus Barth Thomas Hinterreiter and Rico Penzkofer.

Team Manager Berti Hauser said that this race was in their schedule for the season and it gives them the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned at Le Mans. The race gives their team a nice opportunity to test the ideas from that race and continue their development programme for this bike.

Hauser continued that they learned a lot in Le Mans and they feel that their pit work will now also be better because they have a bit more experience of this category. The team targeted to finish the race at Le Mans and they did it. And for the upcoming race the have the same target. He said that he would like a top ten finish at the Circuit Cataluyna but one can never tell what is going to happen in a whole day race. His team wants to make this a good race for all the BMW fans in Spain and exude that they are a sporty brand.

He also said that they chose Richard for he has experience of this kind of bike plus the fact that he is young. Hauser said they want to show that young riders can have fun in their kind of team and on their kind of bike.

Bmw Sauber Prepares For Grand Prix De France

The North American leg of the current Formula One season left a bitter taste in the mouth of BMW Sauber. At the Canadian Grand Prix Robert Kubica met an accident while at the United States Grand Prix Nick Heidfeld was forced to retire after his car malfunctioned. Although the team has scored their highest finish so far at the Canadian Grand Prix they are looking to improve the teams performance at the upcoming French Grand Prix.

The next race will be in contrast to the two previous races held in North America. While the Canadian and United States Grands Prix were held around urban locations the Circuit de Nevers MagnyCours is situated on the countryside. This change in the scenery may or may not change the performance of the drivers but according to experts the course will give drivers more time to think about their driving.

BMW Saubers Nick Heidfeld who took the teams first podium finish this season at the Canadian Grand Prix is apparently looking forward to racing in France and then some. The MagnyCours circuit has a lot to offer two tricky chicanes a highspeed section and some slow corners. I’m looking forward to the race weekend. The track is demanding I like the countryside around the circuit and you tend to eat very well in France the German Formula One driver said in a recent interview.

As for the location of the tracks Heidfeld is hoping that the change in scenery will benefit their team. There’s not a lot going on in MagnyCours and it gets its fair share of criticism as a result. But I like a bit of peace and quiet now and again. And I think the relative tranquility will do the team good after the eventful time we’ve had recently.

Meanwhile Heidfelds teammate Robert Kubica who survived an impact of 75G is looking forward to racing again. The Polish Formula One driver was not permitted to participate at the US Grand Prix. I can’t wait to get back into the car. I may not have been given the green light to compete in the USA but I hope the medical examination at MagnyCours will be a formality he declared.

The Pole explained why he was not permitted by the FIA and the doctors to race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway saying: The reason why I wasn’t allowed to drive at Indianapolis had nothing to do with how I felt; the problem was the risk involved in suffering a second accident within such a short space of time. That’s also why I wasn’t allowed to test. I’ve used the time to focus intensively on preparing for the next race.

The accident that Kubica met at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada is said to be one of the most horrifying crashes in recent memory. His Formula One car was totaled and not even a BMW thermostat would have been found intact considering what was left of his race car.

As for the French Grand Prix the Pole said that he is neutral about the countryside track. I’m pretty neutral about the MagnyCours track. It isn’t one of my favorite circuits but at the same time I don’t have a problem with it. MagnyCours is a lot more fun in a Formula One car than with the smaller cars I’ve driven there before in other categories of racing he shared.

Infact the biggest fact is that old cars need more frequent washing than the new cars.

Car wash can be defined as an activity to remove dirt and grime from the car body and give a new look to the car exterior. Taking the term to a wider extent it also includes cleaning and maintaining the car interiors. This activity is very important for all car owners because if dirt gets deposit on the exterior structure of the body it loses cars appeal and may also cause rust.

  3. Wash the car using a sponge starting from the top end of the car. Use the principle of gravity according to which the soap that you apply on the car roof will flow down. So clean the roof first then the sides doors and windows. Clean the underside of the car and the tyres at the end as they are the most dirties portion of the car and requires thorough cleaning.
  4. Clean the bumpers and fenders more thoroughly as bugs accumulate in that section of the car and are toughest to remove.
  5. Keep on rinsing every section of the car using a hose immediately after you are done with washing that section. This will prevent water droplets from drying on the car paint.
  6. After cleaning the car dry it with a clean cloth preferably a microfiber towel. These towels are considered to be best for drying car exteriors.
  7. Use glass cleaners to clean car windows as they add better shine to the windows.
  8. Once the exterior is cleaned vacuum clean the interiors. Remove all the rugs mats and carpets from the car to remove al the dirt.
